eNVision hosts Reno Winter Review & the Northern Nevada Winter Championships: Thanks to the assistance of Reno High School and their director Cody Forcier the Reno Winter Review hosted 14 ensembles from all over Northern Nevada to kick off the indoor season. Thanks to Damonte Ranch High School and their director Steve Schifferdecker, the first annual Northern Nevada Winter Championships was a beautiful day and great experience for many of Northern Nevada's youth. Thank you to the volunteers and especially the University of Nevada Winterguard and their director Lara Martin that assisted both of these days to run smoothly!
eNVision opened for the National Education Association (NEA) Pacific Region Conference in March and received a standing ovation from educators across the west coast. Many were seen video taping, taking pictures and later heard of taking this media to their administrators and school boards as reasons to NOT cut funding for the arts! The members of eNVision delivered over 20 minutes of entertainment and really kicked off this conference in their own style!
Also in March, eNVision traveled to Sacramento, CA where they closed out the night at the McClatchy Maine Event II. They were well received as they were the next day in Union City, CA where they came home once again as the PIA Regional Champions with a score of 81.4. WGI.org reported "It is great to see this organization providing a stable opportunity for young percussionists in Northern Nevada. With their 2010 show ???Addiction???, eNVision continues their upward trajectory in both design and performance started just a few years ago. The negative aspects of addiction and a more positive concept of seeking help are portrayed by the members in this well balanced theme. Look for this group to make a strong showing again at WGI finals."
In April, eNVision was fortunate enough to have a pre-Dayton rehearsal in the Lawlor Events Center! After performing at halftime of Men's Basketball games, it was quite an experience to rehearse our competition show in the arena. Thank you to the University for making this happen! That same day, eNVision wrapped up the University's Day of Percussion hosted by Dr. Andrew Heglund. It is a blessing to have such a great partnership between UNR and eNVision, thank you for your support!
eNVision repeats their Finals appearance in Dayton!
"eNVision was an amazing experience and was definitely the best thing I could have done this winter" said bass drummer Carrie McCune. "The trip to Dayton was one of those experiences in music that gives me the sense of depth that I am always searching for. Everything mattered and everyone cared!"
eNVision finished 9th out of 19 groups in dayton with a score of 86.875. They were fortunate enough to have the company of the only other group from Nevada in attandance, Foothill High School (who also made finals!) and are pictured below at finals retreat. Congrats to both groups on a strong showing for Nevada!
